From Angkor to Saigon - 17Days/ 16Nights visited: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh - Chau Doc - Can Tho - Saigon - Cu Chi - Phan Thiet

 

Day1: Siem Reap Arrival

Up on your arrival at airport, transfer to hotel for check in. Free at your own leisure and then overnight in Siem Reap.

 

Day 2: Siem Reap - Banteay Srey - Rolous (B)

After breakfast at hotel, today you will transfer to visit the famous temple of Bantey Srey “the Citadel of Women”. This small pink sandstone temple (late 10th century) is considered as the crown jewel of classical Khmer art with the delicate beauty of its carvings. Continue to Bantey Samre (mid 12th century) which has been admirably restored. Afternoon visit the Rolous Group: Preah Ko, the temple-mountain of Bakong and the Lolei temple set in the middle of a former water reservoir or Baray. Roluos Group (late 9th century) represents the remains of Hariharalaya, the first major capital of the Angkorian era Khmer empire, back hotel. Overnight in Siem Reap.

 

Day 3: Siem Reap - South Gate - Angkor (B)

After breakfast, visit the antique capital of Angkor Thom: the South Gate, the Bayon with 54 towers, each carved with four faces of the compassionate Boddhisattva, the nearby temple-mountain of Baphuon, the Royal Enclosure with the Phimeanakas temple, the Elephants Terrace and the Terrace of the Leper King and then scenic Ta Prohm monastery, left to the devouring jungle. Afternoon, visit Angkor Wat (early-mid 12th century) dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. This huge temple-mountain, built by King Suryavarman II, is considered as the masterpiece of Khmer architecture and art. Sunset from Phnom Bakeng Hill, offering an outstanding view over Angkor. Overnight in Siem Reap.

 

Day 4: Siem Reap - Phnom Penh (B)

After breakfast at hotel, transfer to airport for domestic flight to Phnom Penh. On arrival,  you will be greeted with our local guide and transfer to hotel for check in. Free at your own leisure. Overnight in PNH.

 

Day 5: Phnom Penh - City Tour (B)

After breakfast at hotel, start your journey today by exploring our charming city with Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, Raung Damrei and National Museum. Afternoon visit Toul Sleng of Genocide Musuem (S21) and the Killing Field of Choeung Ek Memorial. And then time for your souvenir hunting at Russian Market (Tourist Market) which rich of local product and very reasonable brand name clothes or the choice of Central Market the shopping center landmark of Phnom Penh. Overnight in PNH.

 

Day 6: Phnom Penh - City Tour (B)

After breakfast, excursion to Phnom Chiso to visti the pre-Angkorian Brahmin temple of Suryagiri (10-11h century) that sit on top of hill (503 steps) and enjoy an outstanding view over the surrounding plains. Then visit a traditional silk weaving village. Then drive back to Phnom Penh, on the way stop at Prasat Neang Khmau, the temple of the Black Goddess and then at Ta Promh and Yeay Pau, two Angkorian   Temple built on the banks of Tonle Bati Lake. Overnight in Phnom Penh.

 

Day 7: Phnom Penh - Chau Doc (B)

After breakfast at hotel and then free at your own leisure until transfer off to boat pier for thr boat trip to Chau Doc – Vietnam. Upon your arrival, check in the hotel, free at leisure. Overnight in Chau Doc.

 

Day 8: Chau Doc - Can Tho (B, L, D)

Moring boat trip to visit the floating village and a Cham ethnic village before driving to Can Tho.

Boarding at Can Tho at Ninh Kieu pier. Welcome drink, introduction to the ship and crew, check into the cabins. Departure downstream of the Hau river. Lunch on board while en route.

Tour near Tra On floating market.

Turning into Nicolai canal, towards the Mang Thit and Co Chien rivers. Rest on the upper deck in a scenery of rice fields, sugar cane, woods on the near banks.

Visit of a village on the banks of river Mang Thit, an opportunity to appreciate the way of life and hospitality of the local inhabitants. Visit of the orchard or rice fields nearby.

Boarding back, complimentary drink as a welcome back on board. Rest on the deck or around the bar enjoying the sunset. The crew will serve dinner while the Bassac is cruising Mang Thit river towards her anchorage point for the night.

The Bassac sets anchor for the night on river Mang Thit.

 

Day 9: Cai Be - Saigon (B)

06:30 Departure towards Cai Be. The passengers take their breakfast while enjoying the scenery on the banks.

The Bassac crosses Co Chien river then branches into Cho Lach canal for 30 minutes through the traffic of sand and rice barges, in a scenery of fruit drying facilities and wooden ship building yards.

Arrival in Cai Be, check-out and boarding of a local boat for a tour of Cai Be floating market and handicraft.

Leaving the board at: Cái Bè and transfer by private car back to Saigon. Check in and free at leisure. Overnight in Saigon.

 

Day 10: Ho Chi Minh - Tay Ninh - Cu Chi Tunnels - Ho chi Minh (B)

Enjoy a morning drive through typical southern Vietnamese countryside to Tay Ninh Province in the west of Vietnam. At Tay Ninh visit the incredible Cao Dai Great Temple, with architecture that could have come straight from a Walt Disney fantasy and where all the major faiths of the world blend together in a unique religious cocktail. In the afternoon visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long struggle for independence.  Overnight in Saigon

 

Day 11: Saigon (B)

Free day at leisure until flight to Dalat.  Overnight in Saigon

 

Day 12: Saigon - Phan Thiet (B)

Morning transfer to Phan Thiet – Once a part of the Cham Kingdom, it’s now a perfect stop for beach holidays, an unremarkable town with a reasonable beach, some decent hotels, and a very good golf course. In a nice setting with white sand beaches and coconut trees, the beach resort of Phan Thiet is also endowed with amazing spots such as sand dunes, natural lakes and astonishing red canyons.  Phan Thiet still has sizeable populations of Cham and Raglai ethnic minority groups. The former are a part of the area’s Cham heritage. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel, free time at leisure. Overnight Phan Thiet.

 

Day 13 – 16: Phan Thiet (B)

Free at leisure.

 

Day 17: Depart Saigon (B)

Free until we pick up for the transfer you back to Saigon airport for the departure flight home.
