Overland Adventure Laos to Vietnam - 21Days/ 20Nights visited: Luong Prabang - Xiengkhuang - Mai Chau - Tam Coc - Hanoi - Halong - Hue - Hoi An - HCM - Cu Chi - Mekong - Phan Thiet
Day 1: Arrive Luang Prabang - Half Day City Tour
On arrival at the airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel.
Time permitting; your half day city tour begins with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum, which hosts a range of interesting artifacts. We then head to the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its roofs sweeping low to the ground, which represents classical Laotian architecture. We also have time to visit the impressive stupa of Wat Visoun and the shrines of Wat Aham and Wat Mai. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 2: Luang Prabang - Big Brother Mouse - Ban Khia Luang - Pak Ou Caves (B)
The day starts with a visit to the Big Brother Mouse shop to select some books for the village visit. We then head north by car along route 13, before taking a unpaved road to Ban Khia Luang village. We then have ample time to visit the school, play with the kids and watch them enjoy their new books. We also take some time to explore the rest of the village, where you can see weaving and visit the local temple. We stop for lunch at the village, which can either be a western picnic lunch, or traditional Lao food such as sticky rice, laap and fresh vegetables cooked by the villagers. After lunch we say good bye to the village and drive to Ban Khoklin, which takes us through some beautiful scenery of mountains and paddy fields. At Ban Khoklin we then board a private boat down the Nam Ou River for 30 minutes to Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims and continue down the Mekong River back to Luang Prabang, arriving back there by late afternoon. Day 3: Luang Prabang - Khuang Si Waterfall and Ban Chan (B)
Today we cross the Mekong River by boat, to the picturesque village of Ban Chan, a pottery village. We then visit the morning Phousi Market, where you will see such diverse offerings as dried buffalo skin, local tea and saltpeter among the chickens, vegetables and hill-tribe weavings. Laos is also known for its traditional crafts, and today you will visit local villages of Lao ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, a Hmong village, Ban Ou a Laoloum village and Ban Thapene, a Khmu village. This then takes us to the beautiful Khuang Si Waterfall where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in the pools or walk along the forest trails. We then return to Luang Prabang by late afternoon. Day 4: Luang Prabang - Xiengkhuang (B)
Today, we make the days drive through wonderful natural scenery to Xiengkhuang. The journey will give you plenty of opportunities for photos and visiting hill tribe villages. Upon arrival, we transfer out to visit Site 1 of the Plain of Jars, an impressive archaeological site where hundreds of large stone jars are scattered all over the plateau. Overnight in Xiengkhuang.
Day 5: Xieng Khuang - Vieng Xay (B)
Continue the trip to Vieng Xay- The former Pathet Lao (PL) revolutionary headquarters of Vieng Xai sit in a striking valley of fertile hills and limestone cliffs riddled with caves, several of which were used to shelter PL officers during the Second Indochina War. The town is famous for the caves in which the stoic officers and some 23, 000 people found shelter, but Vieng Xai itself is unbearably pretty. Manmade lakes spot the landscape and wildflowers explode in crimson and yellow to join the emerald and karst backdrop. The beauty of the terrain somehow underscores the decimation it suffered during the American bombing campaign. Overnight in Vieng Xay.
Day 6: Vieng Xay - Mai Chau (B)
Beautiful ride on the village road and picturesque mountains to Na Neo border gate, continue to Mai Chau which is the heart of a beautiful valley that is a world away from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. The modern village is an unappealing sprawl, but as you emerge on the rice fields and rural living it is transformed into a real paradise. It’s a stunning area, and most people here are ethnic White Thai who are very friendly. Tonight, we stay in the homestay, this evening, enjoy the traditional musice and dance.
Day 7: Mai Chau - Tam Coc (B)
Morning walk around the village to see people life and enjoy the atmosphere of the countryside before driving to Trang An for doing the beautiful rowing boat trip to discover 12 amazing caves and nature. Continue to Tam Coc, free at leisure and you can do optional another beautiful boat trip in TamCoc, walking to Thai Vi Temple or do the bike trip through the village to visit Bich Dong pagoda and cave.
Day 8: Tam Coc -

Day 9:
Today we enjoy a full day city tour of this charming capital city including the mausoleum of the nation's founder Ho Chi Minh (close on Monday & Friday), the Presidential Palace, the Ho Chi Minh's house on stilts, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Temple of Literature, the impressive Ethnologic Museum, the beautiful West Lake, the Tran Vu Pagoda, the peaceful lake of the Restored Sword.
Late afternoon we take a cyclo tour for a short excursion through the bustling old quarter streets named after the specific goods once offered for sale at these places. In the evening, we enjoy a fantastic traditional water puppet show.

Day 10:
Morning drive to Halong Bay (165km), Vietnam most scenic sight, a recognized World Natural Heritage Site. Upon arrival, board your deluxe traditional wooden junk. Welcome drink on board. After a relaxing break, enjoy a delicious seafood lunch while cruising through the wonderful Ha Long bay visiting its amazing grottoes and caves. Opportunity to dive off the boat and have a pleasant swimming in the deep blue water of East Sea before relaxing on your sun deck to view a Halong sunset. Dinner on board with excellent fresh seafood.

Day 11: Ha Long -
Get up early to catch the sunrise on the bay and relax with a cup of hot coffee or tea. We depart for a visit to the splendid Sung Sot grotto and a quick glimpse of a nearby fishing village. Enjoy another seafood lunch on board while cruising back through Halong bay to the pier. Transfer to Hanoi Airport for afternoon flight to Hue. Upon arrival, pick up and transfer to the hotel for check in. Free at leisure. Overnight in Hue
Day 12:
Morning cruise leisurely along the romantic Perfume River visiting the Thien Mu Pagoda, Citadel and the Imperial tomb of the Emperor Minh Mang.

Day 13:
Morning transfer to Hoi An, visit Cham Museum and Marble Mountain on the way. You can also swim at Lang Co beach if you want. Check in on arrival, free time at leisure.

Day 14: Hoi An - My Son - Hoi An (B)
Transfer from Hoi An to My Son Holy land, once the spiritual capital of Champa Kingdom that dominated South East Asia for nearly a thousand years and occupied most of the central parts of Vietnam from 2nd century to 16th century with very rich in history and culture. Contemplate its remarkable red brick towers and sanctuaries dating from between the 7th and 13th centuries.
Drive back to Hoi An, visit the former merchants' homes, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, Phuc Kien pagoda and the colourful riverside market. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 15: Hoi An (B)
Free day at leisure. Overnight in Hoi An.
Day 16: Hoi An - Danang - Ho Chi Minh - Cu Chi Tunnels (B)
After the breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Ho Chi Minh. Upon arrival, drive to visit the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an underground tunnel network constructed by Vietnamese resistance fighters during the long struggle for independence. Overnight in Saigon Overnight in Ho Chi Minh.
Day 17: Ho Chi Minh -
Drive to My Tho (65km). On arrival we take a private boat trip along the small canals of Mekong River seeing the daily life of the Mekong River people in both sides of the river. Then take a short tour by “xe loi” (motorized rickshaw) on the rural lane to the bank of Mekong River visiting a rice farm, coconut candy factory and honey bee farm. Continue our journey by sampan through the canals and mangrove forests to reach an island. Stroll on a fruit garden, taste diverse types of seasonal fruits, tea mixed with bee’s honey and enjoy a special folk show of traditional Mekong Delta music.
Afternoon back to Ho Chi Minh, stop en route visiting the beautiful Vinh Trang pagoda, the most famous pagoda in the south of Vietnam whose architecture is a mixture of Vietnamese, Kh’mer and Chinese.

Day 18: Ho Chi Minh - Phan Thiet (B)
Morning transfer to Phan Thiet – Once a part of the Cham Kingdom, it’s now a perfect stop for beach holidays, an unremarkable town with a reasonable beach, some decent hotels, and a very good golf course. In a nice setting with white sand beaches and coconut trees, the beach resort of Phan Thiet is also endowed with amazing spots such as sand dunes, natural lakes and astonishing red canyons. Phan Thiet still has sizeable populations of Cham and Raglai ethnic minority groups. The former are a part of the area’s Cham heritage. Upon arrival, check in at the hotel, free time at leisure. Overnight Phan Thiet.
Day 19 - 20: Phan Thiet (B)
Free days at leisure. Overnight in Phan Thiet (Muine)
Day 21: Phan Thiet - Ho Chi Minh (B)
Free at leisure until we transfer you back to Ho Chi Minh airport for your flight home.
